Nail Trims
To keep claws short, nail trims should be done regularly at 1-3 month intervals, depending on the activity level of your cat. Older kitties don't wear their nails down like younger, more rambunctious cats. Front claws are curved and can grow long enough to puncture the paw pads. Ingrown nails are very painful and can easily become infected, so keep an eye on your cat's feet to make sure those claws are in good shape.
